International Students

We welcome short term bookings for international students when accompanied by an adult.  Our cottage provides a comfortable, self-contained base for families visiting Canterbury for school placements, study or short-term stays. We are happy to provide information about local schools and the surrounding area based on our own experience.

We recommend Sheffield Contributing (Primary) School which is an easy 10 minute drive from the cottage. It is small, rural school with an extensive outdoor play area and offers a kind, happy, fun, safe and nurturing environment for students. Teachers are welcoming  and they create a friendly and positive environment for the children.

For older students we recommend Casebrook Intermediate School (year 7 & 8, age 11-12 approx). This "School of Opportunity" caters perfectly for this age group. They offer "Spec" and "Tech" on top of the usual subjects, giving students a great introduction to the subjects. Joining cultural groups eg Kapa Haka, Pasifika and Korean Dancing is encouraged - irrespective of their own heritage. They also offer many sporting opportunities. The teachers and staff are amazing and have created a very positive environment for pupils to grow and succeed. This multicultural school is inclusive and embraces students from all cultures.

 Recommendations are based on our own experiences. We have found both to be exceptional. We can provide assistance to secure a placement in either school.
